Position Overview:
STRAND AE is seeking a Senior HVAC Designer to collaborate with Project Managers on client-provided construction plans. The role involves ensuring equipment and plans' accuracy and efficacy for each project. The Senior HVAC Designer will oversee the design process, including plan reviews, load calculations, and duct drawings using Blue Beam software. Additionally, they will provide technical support for commissioning and certifying Energy Star homes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage workloads across diverse client projects.
- Utilize AutoCAD proficiently for design work (3 to 5 years experience required).
- Apply knowledge of residential construction practices and energy/mechanical codes (IECC & IMC).
- Demonstrate high personal responsibility, accuracy, and organization.
- Use Excel, Word, and Access for data management.
- Conduct Manual J load calculations using Wrightsoft software, adhering to specifications.
- Produce HVAC layout drawings from load calculations.
- Support project commissioning and permitting processes.
- Address design questions and revisions as needed.
Job Summary:
As an HVAC Estimating & Design Assistant, you will ensure HVAC bids' and designs' accuracy for new residential projects. You'll produce load calculations and drawings based on builder specifications and floor plans. Strong communication, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail are essential.
General Responsibilities:
- Convert builder plans from PDF to DWG files.
- Create and modify drawings using Wrightsoft software.
- Input builder specifications for detailed load calculations.
- Ensure compliance with ASHRAE and L&S standards.
- Maintain accurate records of drawing revisions.
- Support HVAC estimators, designers, and starts coordinators throughout project lifecycles.
- Participate in project progress meetings.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in data entry.
- Strong computer skills.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems and principles preferred.
- Ability to interpret blueprints.
- Excellent time management and communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
